WHERE I GREW UP, WE RODE IN TRUCKS....
After spending one of the best weekends ever at home this past weekend,
I discovered after coming back up to the "City Life" that I am having strange side-effects. No, they aren't the side-effects that you hear on every medication commercial.
I'm not going to have a rush of dizziness, fatigue, weight loss or gain.
None of my hair is going to fall out, nor is my skin going to get dry and flakey.
I am just experiencing a strange LOVE for Sanpete County that I haven't had in the past. I guess it's nothing to be ashamed of...
All my life, I've considered myself a "City Girl".... I was going to move to California, get a good job where maybe one day I could become famous or maybe even meet someone famous, marry someone rich and only come back home when I HAD to. It's like the song "Home Is Where The Heart Is" by Lady Antebellum where she says "I felt I was spinning my wheels Before too long the road was calling I packed everything I own So sure that I was leaving this small town life behind for good And not a single tear was falling"
Yes, this is exactly how I felt. No matter how much I got homesick, moving back was just not something I would ever do. Not that that is what I'm doing now, but I have officially come to the decision that I would LOVE to raise my family in Sanpete! Now I know some of you out there have your ideas about small towns and kids and how there is nothing better to do but drugs and drink and have sex... but that is SO not true! I believe it is all in how you raise your kids. Me and my best friends were all raised to be people our parents could trust and in return we had SO much fun together! We didn't go out and party and ok, maybe we didn't do the "cool thing" at the moment... half the time we probably looked like nerds and still do but whats wrong with that if we're having fun and staying out of trouble?
Sorry about getting on my soapbox for a minute there. Anyway, Sanpete... yeah. I miss it. I miss the Christmas lights this time of year and the Holiday spirit. I miss the wide open fields in between the cities, with a few animals roaming around. I miss the fresh country air and (even though I kind of also hate it) the way that everyone knows everyone else and makes you feel welcome. You just don't get that in the city.
Now, I love where I am at right now in life. There are a few changes I would make but for the most part it's great! The people at work are like a little family for me and I have become good friends with some really amazing people! Also, the fact that I get to go home on the weekends, keeps me going! It's a place of refuge from the busy every-day life.
So for those of you who think I'm dumb for coming home so much, or not getting a second job through the Holidays and things like that... Thank-you for caring. I really do appreciate it and I know that a lot of your advice is probably the choices that I should've made. However, driving into Fairview after a long week and seeing the small town life just makes me happy! Being able to be near my best friends, who are more like sisters (and brother!) is so important to me! Especially around the holidays when EVERYONE is home. There is really no where else in the world I would rather be!
Ok, now off my cheesiness... well I'm sure this next part is pretty cheesey too... But I heard this song the other day and it reminds me so much of our small county of Sanpete! So yes, I just had to post the lyrics! Enjoy!
We Rode In Trucks- Luke Bryan
Down where I born it was heaven on earth.
The Flint River washes that red Georgia dirt.
The sun sets slow and the stars shine bright.
We raised cotton, corn, a little cane, and kids.
You either lived on a farm or wish you did.
Jesus always walked close by our side.
Where I grew up, we rode in trucks.
There's a lot about life you can learn on a bus,
How to lie,
how to fight,
how to kiss,
how to cuss.
The closer we sat to the back, the smarter we got.
We were poor, we were ugly, we were all best friends.
White-eyed, baptized, and still wantin' to sin.
Thank God we get more than just one shot.
Where I grew up, we rode in trucks.
That's us, haulin' hay in the field with the radio on.
That's us, headin' straight into town when the work is done.
In my mind, I can still see us now, ridin' down Buck Island Road.
It wasn't that long ago.
We thought tobacco and beer in a can
Was all it would take to be like our old man.
But I saw how it made my momma cry.
It was huntin' and fishin' and football games.
Then it was girls, and everything changed,
our lives.
Fallin' in and out of love, we rode in trucks.
That's us with our tailgates down in the parking lot.
That's us with mud on our tires when it rained a lot.
In my mind, I can still see us now, ridin' down Buck Island Road.
It wasn't that long ago, it's apart of my soul.
Yeah, Down where I was born, it was heaven on earth.
The Flint River washes that red Georgia dirt.
The sun sets slow and the stars shine bright.
Where I grew up, we rode in trucks.
Ok so for the most part, don't you think of Sanpete when you read this? Or if you don't know what or where Sanpete is, don't ya think of a small town? Yeah, I thought so!

I'm With The Band...
What have I been doing this past week?

And this poster of her (Carrie Underwood)
Then.....
Last night in Memphis
Watching them..... (Little Big Town)
Loving him.... (Jimi Westbrook of Little Big Town)
Counting down...
To her.... (Carrie Underwood)
And this song... (Last Name)
And this song... (Jesus Take The Wheel)
And buying these shirts.....

And this poster of her (Carrie Underwood)
Then.....
Pretty much this was like... the greatest week! :)
Last night in Memphis
Tonight in New Orleans
Tomorrow I’ll be miles from here
Ain’t nothing to me, nothing me
Sweet gypsy highway
Won’t you let me chase my dream
Cause I got a song to take me there
And it’s something to see, something to see
Lord I was born with a suitcase in my hand
Living in a life that few could understand
Sometimes it gets so confusing that I don’t know where I am
But I always know who I’m with
I’m with the band
Cheap whiskey midnight
Another round with my friends
Watching the world through the windshield
And we’re rolling again, rolling again
Lord I was born with a suitcase in my hand
Living in a life that few could understand
Sometimes it gets so confusing that I don’t know where I am
But I always know who I’m with
I’m with the band
Oh Lord I was born with a suitcase in my hand
Living in a life that few could understand
Sometimes it gets so confusing that I don’t know where I am
But I always know who I’m with
I’m with the band
Last night in Memphis
Tonight in New Orleans
Tomorrow I’ll be miles from here
Ain’t nothing to me, nothing me
Oh yeah.... and loving this song!

Hope For The Hopeless...
Barack Hussein Obama II is now President Elect of the United States Of America.
Yes, I did just open with that statement to get the wheels turning in your mind about whats to come. Aren't I nice? Now for the real story....
About 2 and a half months ago, I made the hasty decision of moving to a place that I considered "Great, for a cheap price." Oh how wrong was I? I got a glimpse of what was to come the first day moving in when many tears were shed as I forced my stuff into the small storage spaces and forced myself to go into the disgusting bathroom to take a shower. Praying that it would get better, I did what I had to do. One of my roommates and I spent almost 2 hours deep cleaning the bathroom and removing the bundles of hair from one roommate who doesn't care to clean-up after herself. Our objective? Besides having a clean bathroom we thought the other two roommates would maybe get the incentive to clean the kitchen... maybe clean up after themselves in the bathroom..? Nope. Nothing. Our plan of action? Find alternative places to shower and eat or deal with it when we absolutely had to. (Thank you Aubrey, DeeAura, Shalie and Danni for letting me come over to shower multiple times and even stay when I was too sickened by the thought of going back to my place!)
Well... needing to take further action to get myself out of this mess, I decided to sell my contract. After numerous e-mails and my roommate also helping, we finally sold the two contracts for our bedroom! The result? Relief!
So as I begin looking for another place to live, my co-worker/ friend Aubrey says to me "Hey, the apartment in the basement of the place my brother is living has a spot and I might move there!" And I say "Sweet! Can I buy your contract?" Thinking this is the perfect idea because the girls who live there are great and I would love it... She agreed and we began our quest to get things finalized. Due to a nosey wife who reads her husbands e-mails and takes it upon herself to answer questions she doesn't know the answers to, we finally find out that it would be difficult to guarantee me her spot. My feelings... despair. But thank you again Aubrey for at least finding out now, rather than a month down the road when there are NO contracts available anywhere and I end up homeless!
She then assured me she would help me find a place to live and not to worry, it would all work out. I began my search on craigslist and she did the same. After e-mailing me some housing offers she saw that I might be interested in, I found a place that I remembered looking at before and kind of loving! So after I took down all sorts of phone numbers, calling and leaving messages, and sending multiple e-mails... I finally got a reply! We agreed upon a time to meet and she could show me around the apartment.
Upon arrival, I noticed the girl showing me around was cute and had good hygiene... the kind of girl I would be ok living with. She was very personable also. I also found out that two of the other girls are from California and totally my age! The apartment smelled really good and had a clean, homey feeling to it. I inspected what I needed to, got the answers I needed and finally decided to take a contract home with me. After not being able to sleep and praying with all my might, asking if this was the place I should live, I finally deicded I felt really good about it! So.... as of December 19 I will be living in Crestwood apartments! Yes, I am VERY excited about this! Now I will post pictures of what my apartment will look like! Yay!
Of course decor will be different but I'm going to love it just the same!
Well thats it.
Oh and on a side note... I LOVE One Tree Hill and this is a picture that just gets me excited for whats to come! :)
As for the question... why is Peyton in this weird stripper/ bikinni thing? I just don't know cuz thats not like her but hey, the show is my guilty pleasure! :)
Can't stop listening to: Fairytale

Cinderella's on her bedroom floor
She's got aCrush on the guy at the liquor store
Cause Mr. Charming don't come home anymore
And she forgets why she came here
Sleeping Beauty's in a foul mood
For shame she says
None for you dear prince,
I'm tired today
I'd rather sleep my whole life away than have you keep me from dreaming
[Chorus:]
'cause I don't care for your fairytales
You're so worried about the maiden though you know
She's only waiting on the next best thing
Snow White is doing dishes again cause
What else can you do
With seven itty-bitty men?
Sends them to bed and calls up a friend
Says will you meet me at midnight?
The tall blonde lets out a cry of despair says
Would have cut it myself if I knew men could climb hair
I'll have to find another tower somewhere and keep away from the windows
[Chorus]
Once upon a time in a faraway kingdomMan made up a story said that I should believe him
Go and tell your white knight that he's handsome in hindsight
But I don't want the next best thing
So I sing and hold my head down and I break these walls round me
Can't take no more of your fairytale love
[Chorus]
I don't careI don't care
Worry bout the maiden though you know
She's only waiting spent the whole life being graded on the sanctity of patience and a dumb
Appreciation
But the story needs some mending and a better happy ending
Cause I don't want the next best thing
No no I don't want the next best thing

I want something, I want...
Now that it's officially November, (the month I dislike... mostly because I dislike Thanksgiving food), I will update you on things that wont involve emotional distraught-ness!
Cant Stop:
Drinking Vanilla Coke Zero (But is that really new?)
Eating Orange Creme and Key Lime Pie yougart
Finding awesome new songs to add to my i pod touch
Facebook stalking cute boys :)
Going home on the weekends so I can shower in a clean shower and sleep in an actual bed!
Need to:
Deep clean my side of the room
Clean my car... DEEP clean my car
Start exercising
Stop drinking pop. Even if it's diet.
Fill my medication for my shoulder
Stop eating chocolate
Want to:
Sleep forever and ever
Get a new cell phone
Move
Play in the rain
Go to the Carrie Underwood concert (which I am with Aubrey in 19 days!)
Meet James Lafferty
Get a raise
Go to school
Cut and color my hair
Go shopping. Just one day, all day long. But I'm having a hard time getting into the shopping mood!
I want something, I want- Grace Potter and Bethany Joy Galeottie
I'm the girl with the best intentions
something I should probably mention
I like to get just what I paid for
So i pay and I get and I pay and want some more, more, more
And I want something that I want
Something I tell myself I need
Something that I want
I need everything I see
I'm a girl who's got a notion
I'm a gonna show you my magic potion
I could shop till I drop right to the floor
And I get right up and I want some more, more, more
And I want something that I want
Something I tell myself I need
Something that I want
I need everything I see (everything I see)
Mo-o-o-o-re
And I want something that I want
Something I tell myself I need
Something that I want
I need everything I see
Something that I want
something that I tell myself I need
something that I want
And I need everything I see
something I should probably mention
I like to get just what I paid for
So i pay and I get and I pay and want some more, more, more

Wreck Of The Day....
So... I must say today I am torn between the feelings of 2 emotions:
1. School-girl giddiness
2. Heartbreak that seeps into my very core
As much as I would love to take the first one and leave the rest of it behind, the raw emotion somehow ends up swallowing me, slowly. As you've probably noticed from the past couple posts, the hurt I've been feeling isn't new. It's been trailing me for a couple years now and every once in a while it shows it's ugly self. These are the times I take to reflect on the person I was in high school, the person I became after and who I am trying to be right now.
I was currently introduced to some new novels written by the author: Traci Hunter Abramson.
The first couple she wrote were made into a series about a girl who witness's the death of her boyfriend who is an undercover cop. She is put into the Witness Protection Program and has to assume a new identity and start a new life. She then encounters problems and experiences that force her to keep assuming new identities and she kind of... loses herself along the way.
I feel like that is what I have been doing. I lost the person I was in high school. I liked her.
She was pretty cool. She had the strongest testimony, she was fiercely loyal to the people she loved and she knew that the whole world was at her reach.
I want to be that person again. I'm going to be that person again. I'm broken right now.... But I'll slowly put myself back together.

On top of feeling this emotion as I began the day, I made the drive from Fairview to work, only to find out that 2 of my co-workers have been laid off due to the sucky economy. One of them being a really good friend. She was going to quit at the end of December to do her student teaching anyway but we still thought we had a couple more months with her. She was one of coolest girls I have ever met and I will really miss her. Whit, I love you! So the emotion only grew stronger to which I didn't think it could.
There was then the school-girl giddiness emotion that would surprise me every once in a while. I have to say part of this was due to the fact that 2 of my really good friends and I went to High School Musical 3 Friday night! Yes, we did. And we paid full price! It was totally worth it! I'm going to admit that I loved it! Not only was Zac Effron the cutest high school senior I have ever seen in my life and I got to stare at him for an hour and a half, but it was topped off with laughter, love and brought back some really good memories of mine from my senior year! The night was only made better by going to Aubrey and Dee's to eat dinner followed by going to my place and downloading the soundtrack!

Another part of the school-girl giddiness was the time spent with my family. Even though I hear non-stop how I should stop coming home on the weekends and get a life.... I still love going home! I love spending time with my mom and dad! My dad and I grow closer each time I go down! Sunday night, he and I decided to take a trip down to the library and the bookmobile. While he did some stuff on the computer, I looked for good books to read!

That emotion was kept last night as I went to Aubrey and Dee's again and we spent the night making Chicken Fajita's for dinner and watching Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill! Doing these things are a nice distraction from the broken-ness that has become me!

guess as I look back at this kind of... introspective weekend, I realize that this is just the motions of life. It can take you by surprise. There are good things and bad things that happen to everyone, everyday and it's what you make of them and what you learn from them that will follow you for the rest of your life. As I take a look at myself, this broken record
is being pieced back together and I'm slowly becoming the person I want to be! I've learned as I nurture my testimony with the simple little things we are asked to do in our every day lives, it truly gets you where you want to be. It doesn't happen over night and I realize this so for now, I'll keep trying to find that giddy school-girl feeling!

Standing Still
You've got room to wear the clothes you want,
But there is no one there to show them off to,
This is how the past sticks to you.
There was a time you had inspiration,
A recipe for your life,
You were gliding over your youth.
All the ashes you spread,
All the love that you give,
That is who you are, how hard you break,
For the love you take.
All the fires you burn,
To dry oceans of hurt,
All the time you've wasted in vain,
And you're standing still.
You are tired and you're losing will,
You've got so much time to kill;
You've been running just to stand still.
Sometimes it hurts to scratch your skin,
But feeling pain takes your mind off it,
You wrap your arms and squeeze your bones.
You always thought if you loved enough,
Held it close for long enough,
You would never lose;
How wrong you were.
All the ashes you spread,
All the love that you give,
That is who you are, how hard you break,
For the love you take.
All the fires you burn,
To dry oceans of hurt,
All the time you've wasted in vain,
And you're standing still.
You are tired and you're losing will,
You've got so much time to kill;
You've been running just to stand still.
Oh, how life might take what dream may come,
How life might take what dream may come.
Ok, so I may seem like a broken record lately, But I'm just dealing with some stuff. Everyone goes through times like these so be patient because the light is beginning to break through the darkness!
xoxo Whitney
