Have you ever just felt
CONTENT with the way things are in life? I mean, sure there are ups and downs... Everyone has though. But that feeling that you get when you finally learn that you are
STRONG enough to deal with all the pain, heartache and trials that are sent your way; It's worth
EVERYTHING that you have to go through!
These past 3 weeks have really been a learning experience for me. Let's start with losing my job... The despair I felt that day was something akin to the hardest thing I've ever gone through, two years ago. As I left the office, I didn't know where to go or who to turn to. I got home and walked into my empty apartment. I slowly picked up my phone, knowing
EXACTLY who to call. My Dad. Now, for most of my life, I've been a mommy's girl but ever since leaving home, I've forged a strong enough
BOND with my father to consider myself now a daddy's girl. My dad picked up on the second ring and as soon as I said the word "Dad..." he knew something was terribly wrong. After I explained what had happened, he knew just the
RIGHT words to say. I couldn't believe how much he
CALMED me down. I had been planning on going home the following day, after work but decided that I needed to be in a place of
COMFORT at the time. On the drive home, through the rain, the
WORDS of the song "Sweet Silver Lining" by Kate Voegele kept playing in my mind.
"I'm goin home,
DOWNHEARTED and hopin I'm close, to some
NEW beginning. But I know, there's a
REASON for everything that comes and go's... But so many people are looking to me to be strong and to
FIGHT, but I'm just
SURVIVING. And I may be weak but I'm
NEVER DEFEATED and I'll keep
BELIEVING in clouds with that sweet silver lining..."
Throughout that weekend, I spent most of my time with my family. Over the next day, a second phrase in that song kept coming to mind "Most days, I
TRY my best to put on a
BRAVE FACE, but inside, my bones are
COLD and my heart
BREAKS. But all the while, something's keepin me
SAFE and
ALIVE...."
I cannot express the words to tell you how extremely
THANKFUL I am for being sent to the family I was. They are my
BEST friends. They
HEAL me. Every single one of them. I don't think I could've gotten through that weekend without them
SAVING me. Much like the way they saved me two years ago...
NO QUESTIONS asked. They helped me see something that was
CLOUDED in my mind; I'm
NOT a
FAILURE. It wasn't my fault and in this economy this is just something that happens. It does
NOT reflect my
CHARACTER or my work
ETHIC in any way. I really needed to know this.
Monday morning, I picked myself
UP and pressed forward. I spent the next couple of days searching, making phone calls and contacts. Monday night my
DAD and my
BROTHER Ben, gave me a
BLESSING. Having the Priesthood held in our home has been such a
GIFT I am thankful for. It gave me the strength to press on. Then, a miracle happened... Candice. My
WONDERFUL, AMAZING, LOVING, GENEROUS friend Candice referred me to the office she works at. She is going to be having a baby any day now and she knew they were looking to find a replacement for her while she is gone over the summer. She set up an interview for me on Tuesday.
FOUR days after everything went
DOWN. So I went to the interview,
IMPRESSED them with my skills and they said they would call me. That night, I made a very
IMPORTANT decision, based on an estimated future schedule the interviewer gave me. Candice would come back, most likely in the fall and they would only need part time help after that. It was
PERFECT. It was a
SIGN from Heaven. I
NEED to go back to school!
Well, I went in a couple days later for a second interview with the owner of the company and he offered me the job! Not even a
WEEK after I left one job, I got another! One that has better pay,
BETTER experience and that allows me to go to school!
Going through this experience has made me see just
HOW MUCH my Father in Heaven loves me. I know
WITHOUT a
DOUBT that everything has happened for a reason and he is just
OPENING widows so that I can reach the
FULL POTENTIAL that he knows I'm capable of.
I started my new job on Tuesday and I
ALREADY love it! I love the
PEOPLE I work with, though I barely know them! I'm
LEARNING new things
EVERYDAY. I'm only part time until Candice has her baby and thats
OK. I don't think I've gotten to bed before 2:00
AM yet this week and I don't think I will over the next couple nights. I've grown
CLOSER to friends here in my complex and to my
ROOMMATE April. I am
SO excited that she will be living with me in the fall too because I just love her to death! She is
SUCH an
EXAMPLE to me!
So in all these good things happening to me, something GREAT also happened but we'll save that for another post! As for now, here are some LYRICS that might give a little headway into how I'm feeling about next time.... :)
Dreams Collide
I am stuck here in a moment
And I'm trying to pretend
So I'll play this feeling over and over again.
I know all this memory
Maybe I should awake instead
But I'm on my way to go back inside my head.
I close my eyes
And try to hide
But I wake when these dreams collide.
So I'll put this all on repeat
And I'll make up what comes next.
Now I lay here, daydreaming on your chest.
Well I'm stalling to open my eyes
Cause I know it's time for me to leave this bed
But I've decided to fall back
Inside my head.
I close my eyes
And try to hide
But I wake when these dreams collide.
But it all breaks down if I
Keep on wasting all my time.
All alone, in my head
Wish I'd never thought about it in the end.
I close my eyes
And try to hide
But I wake when these dreams collide
