"I want to be a philanthropist".... Yes, these were my exact words.
"It is 4 months until the end of August. I promise you"... More of my words.
"Mom... I need you to be calm. I got in a car accident and I'm at the hospital right now."... No, these weren't my words. But up until the point I was crying real tears yesterday, this seemed like a great April Fools joke because it's something my mom would actually believe!
Want to hear the stories?
Lets start with Mom. Aww my mother... my best friend... my confident...
Apparently for some reason, my parents think I'm a bad driver. Why, might you ask? Well it could be the fact that I rolled my first car the day after I turned seventeen,

I pulled into a parking spot I thought was empty in front of my school and it turned out to not to be or that this past winter I was driving down an icy road, lost control, spun out, hit a huge/ hard snow bank and dented in my driver door while scraping my front bumper. Eh, these don't prove that I'm not a good driver. They DO however prove that I don't pay attention very well. So as I thought about a good prank to play on my mom I figured this would be the most believable one rather than I got engaged, I eloped to a foreign guy who needed his green card or that I'm pregnant. Non of those she would believe. Well as it turns out, the fake tears I was planning to cry later that night turned into real ones as the day went on. All in all I had a horrible day yesterday, DID end up calling my mom in tears but decided that a prank was probably not a good idea. You're welcome Mom!
Now about me being a philanthropist....
Well as I already mentioned me= bad day yesterday. In light of this, my beautiful, observant, loving roommate realized I needed a blessing for comfort and took it upon herself to go get two of the greatest guys in our ward. Kyle and Matt... you guys rock! After getting the blessing, we all proceeded to swap stories and get into in depth conversations. Matt, being the smart guy he is, is going to be a Physicians Assistant. He started going off about nurses as my roommate told the story about playing dead in the hospital which involved a really dumb nurse (a story for another time...) anyway I proceeded to tell him that I had thought about nursing but couldn't do it because of the fact that cleaning up human feces makes me want to vomit. Which in turn leads to cleaning up vomit and that makes me want to vomit even more. Then I thought about being an EMT on the side (Matt is also an EMT) but I didn't think I could handle the trauma. (Anyone remember the episode of Grey's Anatomy where the train or subway or whatever it is crashes somehow and the young women and the older man end up facing each other with a pole sticking through their stomachs?...) So yeah, EMT is a no go. "So I decided to be a Philanthropist..." As I said this, I looked around at the confused faces and decided I needed to explain myself. "Well I think it would be cool to work with blood!".... Still confusion was etched on their faces. "A Phlebotomist?" Matt states, rather than asks.... Yes I am THAT blonde.
Now about how I'm going to get in a time machine and apparently skip a month from now until August. My co-worker/ bestie Aubs has this boyfriend named Scotty. He's pretty cool... anyway he is leaving at the end of August to... well I can't remember WHAT he is doing but it has something to do with going around to different training hospitals in the U.S for like 6 months or something. She, Lindsay and I were trying to figure how much time Aubs had left to spend with Scotty. Aubs and Lindsay both said five months. I kept insisting that it was only four.... To explain further an older customer of ours came in to see if his Social Security check had come in today. It wasn't there so I looked in his history and saw that the last time it had come in was on the 3rd of the month. "Tomorrow is the 3rd." he said. "No" I shook my head. "Yes it is." He insisted. "No, it's not tomorrow is the..." "Tomorrow IS the 3rd." My Spider Lady co-worker said from behind me. "Oh yeah! Because yesterday was April Fools day! I was thinking it was like the 22nd or something!".... And silence enveloped around us as they looked at me like I was on drugs. Maybe I was... maybe I AM. Maybe Paula Abdoul gave me some of the drugs she's been using before Idol. (Has anyone else noticed?)
No, it's not drugs. It might be the lack of sleep (Probably 6 hours totaling the week), the headache and tired eyes I had from crying yesterday or the fact that the only thing I had eaten within the last 14 hours was a 32 ounce Diet Pepsi. Who knows? But hopefully tonight will all change that... I have no plans so I'm going to go to bed at 9:30... YES 9:30 (yeah right).... Kyle (What a sweetheart) just brought me chocolate cake and chocolate milk!
Doesn't chocolate solve everything? ;)
Hold up
Hold on
Don't be scared
You'll never change whats been and gone
May your smile (may your smile)
Shine on (shine on)
Don't be scared (don't be scared)
Your destiny may keep you warm
Cause all of the stars
are fading away
just try not to worry
you'll see them someday
take what you need
and be on your way
and stop crying your heart out
Get up (get up)
Come on (come on)
Why're you scared? (I'm not scared)
You'll never change

and be on your way
and stop crying your heart out
We're all of us stars
We're fading away
Just try not to worry
You'll see us some day
Just take what you need
And be on your way
